Description

Take part in the daily life at our kennel, run a sled pulled by a team of happy huskies, explore the mountains 'off the beaten track', go snowshoeing and experience the silence of the forest, away from light pollution. Sit around the campfire, wander through the dark forest and frozen waterfalls on snowshoes, scout for the northern lights or enjoy a traditional sauna... This trip is ideal to get a first overnight experience, and for families with kids!

Day 1: pick up at Bardufoss airport or bus-station. Transport to our dog-kennel in the deep forest of Målselv. Trip planning, preparations of the equipment and saying hello to the dogs. Small trip with the dogs around the huskyfarm, dinner and overnight at our cosy log-house.

Day 2: after a good night sleep and a yummy breakfast for humans and for dogs, we are ready for new adventures! Packing the sleds and preparing for the trip into the remote mountains of Målselv by dogsled. Overnight in a remote cabin or tent camp, close to the nature, without electricity nor running water. Evening hike, and hopefully good views of the northern lights. Fetch water from a source, feel the warmth from the glowing fire in the wooden stove...

Day 3: exploring the mountains by dogsled, return to the farm - back to civilisation, with new experiences for life. Good-bye to the dogs, and transport to Bardufoss.

Tour conditions

All our activities are easy to moderate. In wilderness cabins, we sleep in mixed room with both gentlemen and women. The cabins are heated with wood / gas and have no electricity nor running water. If we sleep in tents, we have a stove and use sleeping mats and winter sleeping bags. Dry toilets are available at the cabins, but at the tent-camp we dig a toilet in the snow. No former dogsledding experience is required, but you must appreciate animals, and feel friendship for them!
