Ski & Sail Expeditions from Reinfjord

Boat-supported, exploration-oriented ski expeditions from one of Northern Norway's last roadless Arctic villages. Accessible only by boat, Reinfjord is a tiny Arctic village surrounded by steep mountains and open sea. From this remote basecamp, we combine the comfort of a lodge with the flexibility of a sailboat to adapt each day to the weather, snow conditions and your group. The sailboat allows us to reach remote fjords, quieter mountains and a variety of ski objectives throughout the week. No fixed itinerary. No standard routes. Just a flexible expedition shaped by the best conditions of the day. Private groups and mountain guides welcome.

At the edge of Finnmark, Reinfjord remains one of the last roadless fjord villages in Northern Norway. Surrounded by steep mountains and Arctic sea, it becomes our basecamp for a week shaped by snow, weather and exploration.

A floating access point to untouched terrain

Our sailboat “Mutine” allows us to move efficiently between fjords, islands and mountain ranges, accessing terrain impossible to reach from the road system.

Some days we ski directly from Reinfjord. Other days we cross fjords by boat and start deep inside remote valleys or along isolated coastlines. Depending on snow and weather conditions, we may explore areas around Jøkelfjord, Olderfjord, Loppa, or the Finnmark Alps, with the possibility to overnight onboard.

The sailboat creates flexibility.
The lodge provides comfort, recovery and stability.

Together, they create a rare balance between exploration and immersion in Arctic Norway.

The weather defines the lines

Ski touring in Northern Norway is shaped by changing weather systems, snowpack and coastal conditions.

Instead of following a rigid itinerary, we adapt continuously throughout the week to find the best skiing available.

Some days offer long summit traverses with views over the sea. Others lead into sheltered couloirs, glaciers or rolling mountains directly rising from the fjords.

Our local knowledge of the region allows us to move between zones and choose terrain adapted to both the conditions and the group.

“No fixed itinerary. No standard routes. The conditions define the plan.”

Life in Reinfjord

After a day outside, we return to the warmth of the lodge: sauna by the sea, drying room, home-cooked meals and quiet evenings in one of the last roadless fjord villages in Northern Norway.

Meals are prepared from local ingredients whenever possible, including products from our own farm, Arctic fisheries and regional producers.

Reinfjord itself is part of the experience.
No roads. No traffic.
Only mountains, weather, sea and a small Arctic community at 70° North.

For private groups and mountain guides

We host both private groups and professional mountain guides seeking flexible access to remote ski touring terrain in Northern Norway.

Some groups arrive with their own IFMGA/UIAGM guide. Others join individually or privately, and we organise guiding adapted to the conditions and objectives.

Particularly suited for:
- small private groups
- mountain guides exploring new terrain
- experienced skiers looking beyond Lyngen

Who is this trip for?

Designed for skiers comfortable with variable snow, long Arctic days and skin-based ascents.

The emphasis is not on steep skiing or performance, but on exploration, flexibility and discovering Arctic terrain at a rhythm that suits you. Typical ascents range from 800 to 1500 vertical meters depending on conditions.

The Arctic beyond the obvious

Many ski touring destinations in Norway have become increasingly busy over recent years.

Here, at the border between Troms and Finnmark, the experience remains different: quieter mountains, fewer people and terrain still shaped by weather, snow and local knowledge rather than fixed itineraries.

This is not traditional ski & sail. It is a flexible Arctic ski touring basecamp designed for skiers seeking space, movement and immersion in Northern Norway.

About the hosts

This project is run personally by Espen and Delphine.

They live year-round in Northern Norway, between their remote farm and the fjords of Kvænangen.

Since 2013, Delphine has organized ski touring and ski & sail experiences across Northern Norway, combining maritime operations, hosting and Arctic travel logistics.

Espen is Norwegian and has extensive local experience from the mountains and fjords of Troms & Finnmark.

Together, they shape each week according to weather, snow conditions and the rhythm of the group.

Guests are welcomed into a small-scale Arctic basecamp shaped by local knowledge, flexibility and life in the fjords.

Welcome to our home!
