Agenda & Seasonal work

This is a position in a busy winter tourism environment. Winter is our main working period (Nov. > April), with a particularly high level of activity during Christmas and New Year : we need our team complete at this period, and company operations are the priority.

Work schedules are driven by tours, weather conditions, bookings, animal welfare, and daily operational needs. Working hours vary from day to day and week to week, and schedules change on short notice. Flexibility and adaptability are therefore essential qualities to join our team.

When working in tourism, the company’s operational needs come first. Flexibility and the ability to adapt to a changing work rhythm are essential. When activity decreases later in the season, longer breaks may be arranged as compensation.

Personal projects, hobbies, creative work, and private activities must be organised independently during free time. The company does not adapt work schedules to personal plans; employees are expected to organise their personal lives around the requirements of the job.

If you enjoy teamwork in a small, highly dedicated team, thrive in a dynamic environment where priorities can change quickly, and take pride in expertise on expeditions and long tours, you will fit well with our way of working.

Interested?

Seeking motivated, positive and hard-working persons : it's a lifestyle and not a 9 to 5 job. It’s important that you are flexible (and so are we), as it is long days in a rustic environnement. Couples are welcome. You will receive working clothes (winter boots and overall), holiday allowance and full health coverage under our company insurance.

All positions are only part time dog-related - combined with house-keeping, maintenance, gardening and carpentry.

Our website might show a lot of adventures - but our daily life is completely grounded into daily routines at the farm.

We offer accommodation and a monthly remuneration to the persons who are willing to commit, take responsibilities and initiatives, and get involved in various projects : guiding, house-keeping, hosting, cooking, building... Life on a farm involves many tasks, which are repetitive - but also fulfilling!

Handler and guide

This is a part-time position combined to carpentry or house keeping.

August to October : autum training on karts and quads. Day-tours with guests where you get familiar with our guiding routines. Production of firewood. Picking and preparing berries, mushrooms, pig and moose meat from our hunt.

November : the snow arrives and we switch to sleds, and week-programs from the farm combining dogsledding and multi-activities. We are away at sea for the whale watching season, so you shall be self-driven.

December and January : most busy times of the year with multiple day-tours and little daylight - this period can sometimes be challenging, it's good to be prepared!

February to April : assistant with logistics around long tours with dogs and sailboat. We will be away for some weeks, so you shall be self-driven.

Working on long tours can be discussed upfront ; we invest in people who have a long term perspective in guiding with us in those mountains.

May to July : tidying after snow melting, firewood, carpentry, fencing, harvesting, building and restoration, fixing and painting at the farm.

Requirements :

  1. committing to a lifestyle
  2. flexibility with planning, ability to deal with the unexpected inherent to outdoor tourism
  3. flexibility with human factors
  4. flexibility with weather (unforeseen snow cleaning)
  5. ability to work fast and efficient
  6. ability to put guests needs first
  7. ability to stay positive when situations are tough
  8. reflective about interactions with humans and dogs

There will be a 2 weeks trial period. Please recognise that the work on a farm is tough, especially in winter when the temperatures are below -10°. The animals have to be fed and the cleaning has to be done at fix time, irrelevant how the weather is!

Carpenter - Mechanician

This is a part-time position combined to dog handling.

At our farm all the buildings are in wood - and there is always a project going on. From fixing small things in the dog-yard to building an entire cabin! Main carpentry season is in summer. We have decent wood-working tools and workshop, and with a practical mind we manage to do many things ourselves. Most things at our farm are home-built, from sleds to lodges!

Housekeeper

This is a part-time position combined to dog handling.

We have 3 houses and one barn that need to be kept clean at all times, this also includes the house where we live. The 2 log-cabins, respectively built in 1870 and 2021, are both charming traditional accommodations, where we welcome visitors from all around the world, to discover our lifestyle with the dogs.

  1. The housekeeping work consists in keeping clean and tidy the 3 houses at all times (bedsheets, 3 bathrooms, 3 kitchens, filling up firewood...)
  2. The host work consists in giving guests a warm welcome upon arrival. Being available through their stay to make sure everything is smooth and they have the best time. Following up their needs during their stay : bookings and preparations for the sauna, for breakfast, and for organising activities (dogsledding, dog-karting, canoe, snowshoeing).

Seasonal worker / Trainee

We welcome Volunteers, Trainees, Students and Seasonal workers in the summer, autumn and all the way until January, to help with farm life and dog-care. The position includes 50% of house-keeping and cleaning in the houses.

You will be provided your own bedroom in an accommodation shared with another person from the team. The minimum stay is two months, because it takes a while to learn the routines with the animals. Depending on what we agree, you can will 5 to 8 hours a day, 5 days a week.

Your daily tasks will be :

  1. feeding, cleaning and fixing in the dogyard, morning and evening
  2. house-keeping and cleaning the houses
  3. shovelling and removing snow
  4. gardening, mowing the lawn
  5. helping preparing before and after the tours
  6. welcoming guests, being available through their stay and following up their needs (sauna, breakfast, dogsledding).

Depending on your interests, the priorities and the season, you will have a small personal project such as :

  1. painting (indoor, outdoor)
  2. helping producing firewood
  3. berry-picking and harvesting (potatoes, rhubarb, blueberries)
  4. baking cakes in big quantities
  5. cooking, processing meat, vacuum packing expedition food

Please recognise that the work on a farm is tough, especially in winter when the temperatures are below -10°. The animals have to be fed and the cleaning has to be done at fix time, irrelevant how the weather is.

We look forward to having you with us!
